How does your school encourage
love of landscape and wildlife?

The  love where you live photo competition for schools is about encouraging children at Key stages 2, 3 and 4 to take notice of their local surroundings  -  what’s beautiful and what’s not so great  -  so they learn to enjoy it, and look after it, at a young age.

Ecoschools  has partnered with not for profit recycling organisation Alupro to offer prizes for schools worth a total £1,000 for the best pictures in two categories:

  • How your school encourages love of local landscape
    and wildlife
  • Practical measures taken by children in your school to look after the environment
For instance, nature walks and farm visits make great pictures. And as examples of practical measures to care for the environment, recycling aluminium drinks cans and foil is 20 times more energy
and carbon efficient than making them from virgin metal, so this is something everyone should do. And we can grow vegetables, clean up litter, turn down the thermostat, and walk or cycle to school instead of going by car.
